چکیده
Aim: To assess the potent role of oxidative stress biomarkers in pregnant females with thyroid disease. Study design: Cross sectional comparative study. Place and duration study: Institute Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (IMBB), The University Lahore from 1st July 2019 to 31st 2021. Methods: study was designed compare serum levels markers antioxidant between who had disease as comorbidity euthyroid controls. were measured fifty cases control samples using various laboratory tests ELISA kits. Samples collected PINUM, Faisalabad Obstetrics Gynaecology Department, DHQ Chiniot, division. Results: Mean ages controls 29.19±4.17 and. 26.07±4.88 years. SOD significantly decreased (p≤0.001) having dysfunction (0.05± 0.01 nmol/ml) compared group (0.06±0.01nmol/ml). None other showed a significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusion: lower may be potential risk factor for development local females. Keywords: Oxidative stress, Thyroid-stimulating hormone, Thyroid dysfunction, Superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde,

Extracellular Superoxide Dismutase (ec-sod) as a Protective Factor for Risk of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
WINNING ABSTRACT: Tobacco smoke contains a high concentration of oxidants and is the primary cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) is the major antioxidant enzyme in the extracellular space of the lung and is part of the lung defense against these oxidants. We hypothesized that EC-SOD is a risk factor for COPD. We found that EC-SOD pl...
متن کاملGroESL protects superoxide dismutase (SOD)— Deficient cells against oxidative stress and is a chaperone for SOD
Superoxide dismutase (SOD)-deficient Escherichia coli OX326A cells are protected against chemically-induced oxidative stress by expression of the chaperonin GroESL. This protection is equivalent to expression of superoxide dismutase even though GroESL has no inherent SOD activity. Co-overexpression of GroESL and SOD in the same cells results in higher protein yields of SOD and greater metallati...

Oxyradicals are chemical species with an unpaired electron in one of their orbits. Production of oxyradicals occurs throughout the body during cellular metabolism [l]. A complex antioxidant system exists to regulate levels of oxyradicals as excessive production or ineffective removal can result in cellular damage. The antioxidant enzymes present indude superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione pg...
متن کاملSuperoxide dismutase 1 acts as a nuclear transcription factor to regulate oxidative stress resistance
Superoxide dismutase 1 (Sod1) has been known for nearly half a century for catalysis of superoxide to hydrogen peroxide. Here we report a new Sod1 function in oxidative signalling: in response to elevated endogenous and exogenous reactive oxygen species (ROS), Sod1 rapidly relocates into the nucleus, which is important for maintaining genomic stability. Interestingly, H2O2 is sufficient to prom...
متن کاملDecreased Serum Sulphydryl Levels as a Sign of Increased Oxidative Stress in Generalized Anxiety Disorder
OBJECTIVE In recent years, many published studies have focused on the relationship between oxidative stress and psychiatric disorders. However, studies in generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) are few despite relatively high prevalence rates. In an attempt to fill this gap in the literature we aimed to measure serum levels of free sulphydryl, an important member of antioxidant defense mechanisms, ...
